Starting this project four and a half months ago, I would have never thought that I would become so passionate about the topic. Of course, sports have been a huge part of my life for the last seventeen years, so this was a very easy topic for me to choose, but I thought that the issue would be very complex. Through all of my research and learning, I learned that it really isn't that difficult to understand. I've found that the problem doesn't necessarily come down to politics or legal precedent, it just comes down to a stubborn institution and a system that needs changing. People may say, "this system has worked for the last century, so why should we change it now?" My answer to this question is that slavery seemed to work for centuries as well. Does that mean that the system was right or just? The answer to this question is obviously no. It was protest and education that created a fight against slavery, and this is what I hope to do with my project. My goal was to research the topic and try to create change with what I had discovered. I researched with a leader in the field finding new information, and read countless articles on the topic so that I could fully understand it. I spread this information and hoped that people would be as intrigued as I was and try to do the same as me. No, I didn't reach millions, and no I didn't force the NCAA to change their policies, but I believe that I placed a stone in the long path that will someday lead to justice in the NCAA. I never thought that I would actually make a difference in this fight against the policies of the NCAA, but I can now confidently say that I have helped make a difference. I hope that anybody that visits this site will do something to join the fight. This can be as simple as telling a friend about the sight or this issue itself, or as big as writing to one of your state representatives to tell them about the issue. There is strength in numbers, and this fight can most definitely not be won alone. My biggest wish for this project is that in 20 years I will look back on this and say that I did something to help. Thanks for visiting the site
